Ex-Eagle Don Felder's Talks Collaborating with Styx's Tommy Shaw on New Single

March 22, 2013

Former Eagles guitarist Don Felder is set to release the second single from his 2102 solo album, Road to Forever.  "Wash Away," which was sent to radio stations on Monday, was co-written by Tommy Shaw and also features backing vocals by the longtime Styx singer/guitarist.

Felder tells ABC News Radio that the track was part of a fruitful few days Shaw spent with him while he was getting Road to Forever together.  During that time, Tommy also co-wrote the tune "Heal Me" from the new record and another song that didn't make it on to the album.

"He helped me write lyrics on a couple of songs, which was great," says Felder, recalling the sessions.  "We played guitars, set up a mic, sang the harmonies in my studio and it just turned out really wonderful to have collaboration like that."

"Wash Away" follows Road to Forever's lead single, "Girls in Black," which broke into the top 30 of the Mediabase Rock chart.

Felder is planning to hit the road in support of Road to Forever in the coming weeks.  Currently, he only has one event lined up, an appearance at the Crosby, Stills & Nash-headlined Light Up the Blues concert on April 13 in Los Angeles.  The benefit, which will be hosted by Stephen Stills and his wife, Kristen, will raise funds for the Autism Speaks organization.
