Deep Purple Unveils Details of Upcoming Album, "NOW What?!"
5:37AM Tuesday
March 5, 2013

Deep Purple has announced that the title of its forthcoming studio album will be NOW What?!  The follow-up to 2005's Rapture of the Deep will feature 11 songs and will be released on April 30.

According to a statement from the group, "NOW What?! was recorded with no musical rules…and it shows a modern and fresh production…to the point that Deep Purple have never sounded so close to the spirit of the '70s in the last 20 years as they do NOW."

The Bob Ezrin-produced album will be issued in a variety of formats, including a standard CD, a double-LP vinyl set and a deluxe edition containing a bonus cover tune and a DVD featuring the band members discussing the making of the album.

On March 29, in advance of NOW What?!'s arrival, Deep Purple will release radio-edit versions of two new tunes -- "Hell to Pay" and "All the Time in the World" -- as digital downloads and as a limited-edition double A-side single on 7-inch vinyl.  A four-track CD single featuring those tracks as well as live renditions of "Perfect Strangers" and "Rapture of the Deep" will be issued on the same day.

Deep Purple will be revealing plans for a full world tour in support of NOW What?! soon.  The band has just announced the first dates of the trek -- a series of fall shows in Germany that will feature Peter Frampton as the opening act.
